Best Home Remedy for Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) Dr. Berg

Let me say this first: children, pregnant women or lactating women, should NOT take this powerful oil. Please check with your doc.

As adults, even we need to use caution.

Because Garry didnt want to take an antibiotic, and wanted to see if the oil would work , we decided to err on the side of caution and only did 500mg, four times a day, for three days, and then dropped to 500mg twice a day for seven more days.

At the end of day 10, he felt good enough to resume his weekly pickleball games.

What The Research Says

Some studies show that essential oils can actually help fight bacterial infections. For example, lemongrass oil can be effective against drug-resistant microorganisms.

One study examined how well lemongrass essential oil worked against common harmful pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus , Bacillus cereus , Bacillus subtilis , Escherichia coli , and Klebsiella pneumoniae . The study found that lemongrass oil was effective in killing off these harmful pathogens.

Another 2016 study examined essential oil effects on antimicrobial activity of drug resistant bacteria. Some essential oils are able to disrupt the cell membrane of some strains of bacteria, thus reducing the number of bacteria. More studies are needed to understand how to use these most effectively in human beings.

Yes, whiteangel, oil of oregano is wonderful. I pour drops of it into an empty capsule and swallow it with water. That gets it down into my tummy without the agony of the oil touching my lips. When I’ve had a pain in my stomach, I’ve taken my oregano oil, and soon…like within 15 minutes…the pain is gone, leaving me with just a bit of an uncomfortable reminder of what almost happened, had I not taken this amazing and relatively unknown remedy. I buy pure oregano oil, not an infusion. For clearing debris from the urinary tract, please research these herbs: marshmallow root, gravel root, and hydrangea root. If you make a tea of them, add a dash of black cherry juice. But drink very little to start with,…maybe a quarter cup. Wait a couple of hours. Then drink more. Store in the fridge. But, Kilgoretrout, take heart! If your oregano isn’t ‘wild’, it is still medicinal, just not as potent as the wild variety. I found this info:

How Antibiotics Destroy Your Guts

I was a frequent UTI sufferer for many years. I know they arent the nicest things to admit to but given that they affect almost 50% of all women, chances are many of you have struggled as well . The burning pain down there and the need to pee every 2 seconds had me ready to pop an antibiotic almost immediately. I mean, it was just another pesky UTI getting in the way of life that was fixed so easily by a quick course of 7. Little did I know the impact that tiny, toxic, antibiotic pill was having on my gut.

I have written a blog post that has lots of detail on how antibiotics destroy your gut, but to save time, here is a 1 minute summary:

The antibiotics enter into your gut, fight all the bad bacteria that is causing the UTI and during the process also kill off a lot of the good bacteria that your body needs to protect itself against other infections. This means that we lose lots of the good guys that support our immune system and leave ourselves susceptible to more infections by bad bacteria in the future. This course of events are often the beginning of what is commonly referred to as antibiotic-induced IBS , where the dysbiosis in your gut can lead to gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhoea, gas and bloating. And so the cycle of infection , and IBS continues… If only I’d known how to get rid of a UTI without antibiotics.

So, why are many practitioners so quick to prescribe antibiotics?
